Set against the stunning backdrop of San Diego Bay, the 14th annual and marquee event of Fleet Week San Diego events will feature 280 of the world's most unique and pedigreed machines at one of the most distinctive stages, the North Island Naval Base Coronado.

This year's Speed Festival celebrates 100 years of naval aviation, 100 years of the Indianapolis 500 and the 100th year of Chevrolet. San Diego-based racing champ Boris Said will be the honorary grand marshal. "Said Heads" can look for him on Sunday. Also new this year will be the Military Pit Crew Challenge both days at the noon ceremonies. Eight teams of 10 will be timed as they re-create an actual NASCAR hot-pit stop.
A spectator-friendly 1.6 mile course is constructed on the runways and taxiways of Naval Base Coronado. The vintage race cars are chosen to compete on the basis of their historical significance and certified authenticity.
Some of the cars on the track are valued in the millions of dollars and, unlike most racing events, fans are invited to tour the pits and speak with the drivers of these unique machines. Proceeds from the event benefit Navy programs.
